Harwich Lifeboat


 
 








Harwich along with numerous ports and seaside towns, is very proud to have a Royal National Institution - Lifeboat Station. Our Lifeboat is the "Albert Brown" No. 17-03 a Severn class long range vessel, equipped with all the most modern navigational and safety equipment. 52ft long she is built of modern composite materials. Callouts average 90 per year, with many lives saved.

The R.N.L.I. is solely run by voluntary donations and bequests, and celebrated it's 175th anniversary in 1999.

*Update*.........May 2002                      New Boathouse opened.
Costing £1.5 million, raised locally, the new HQ has taken over a year to construct.
It contains, the Inshore boat with quick launch facility and public viewing area, large training room, showers, and even a giftshop.
